Frederick, MD – Carey International, a global leader in luxury chauffeured services, is proud to announce its commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). By signing the commitment letter, Carey International has committed to setting near-term company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science.

The commitment to SBTi is another step in Carey’s years-long effort to work towards more sustainable operations. Over the past four years, Carey has been testing charging station infrastructure in several cities, such as Dallas, Houston, New York City, and London. This has allowed Carey to replace over 95% of its UK fleet with hybrid or electric vehicles and to rely heavily on vehicle models such as the Cadillac Lyriq, BMW 530e, and Tesla Model S as it makes similar transitions domestically.

“We are dedicated to aligning our business practices with the highest level of environmental responsibility,” said Frank Donnelly, Carey’s VP of Financial Planning and Analysis, who is heading the effort, along with several other Carey contributors. “Our commitment to SBTi underscores our pledge to take meaningful action against climate change and achieve net-zero emissions.”

“We’ve long considered ourselves a leader in the chauffeured transportation industry for the services that we provide, and we would be disappointed in ourselves if we didn’t make steps towards leading our industry in sustainability initiatives, as well,” stated Mitchell Lahr, President and CEO of Carey International. “By integrating innovative technology and adopting best practices, we aim to significantly reduce our carbon footprint and inspire others in the industry to follow suit.”

Stockley Park, UK – Carey International, a leading global provider of luxury ground transportation, has taken a significant step towards embracing the future of electric vehicles with a recent investment aimed at reducing the carbon emissions of its U.K. fleet by 65%. The move involves the initial acquisition of ten BMW 530e Hybrid Electric vehicles, worth £650,000, and a planned investment of an additional £2,000,000 over the next 12 months to also include the purchase of several Mercedes S560e Hybrid Electric vehicles.

The new fleet will surpass all air quality requirements for chauffeur fleets in London and serve as a model for other Carey locations across the EMEA region as they strive towards a more sustainable fleet of vehicles. According to Mitch Lahr, President and CEO of Carey International, “This is part of a much larger evolution in how Carey serves its clients, and we plan on applying some of these lessons learned to our organisation as a whole.”

Carey’s Regional Vice President of International Operations, Greg Mendoza, has played a vital role in the transition, stating that “we feel it’s important to allow our clientele to rest assured in knowing that their transportation isn’t unduly contributing to global CO2 emissions. The moves, according to C.E.O. Mitchell Lahr, “come at a time of significant growth for Carey, as we start to look past business as usual and continue our over 100-years-long journey to guide Carey, the franchise network and our industry into the future while maintaining safety, security and quality for our customers.”

While Carey has provided service in San Diego for decades, the addition of this new franchise allows the organization to provide superior value and a consistent level of service for a clientele that has come to expect the “Duty of Care” provided by Carey chauffeurs, account managers, and customer service staff when traveling in the region. Washington, DC. — Carey International, Inc., the leading provider of innovative chauffeured service solutions, customer-centric travel technology, and ground transportation logistics management, announced today that it is moving its Global Headquarters from Washington DC to a new facility in Frederick, MD.

The new Carey International Headquarters will be located at 7445 New Technology Way, in Frederick, MD, and will consolidate Carey’s Customer Engagement Center, Executive Offices, Administrative and Account Services Office, and Information Technology and Innovation Lab.  The new facility will also house The Carey International Regional Dispatch Center for the East—a state-of-the art operational hub orchestrating transportation logistics management functions for Carey service cities on the East Coast.

While significant investments in proprietary technology such as vehicle tracking, GPS route mapping, and two-way communication have allowed Carey International to move the bulk of its operational functions to the new headquarters, both Carey service will continue to maintain fully-staffed offices in the cities they service.  Local operations will focus on training and supporting chauffeurs, service standards, and client outreach.

“This move is a significant step for Carey International and great news for our clients”, said Gary Kessler, President and CEO of Carey International.   “Consolidating our mosaic of support, administrative, and executive functions into one building facilitates improved efficiency and productivity, while at the same time allowing the operations teams in each service area to provide greater focus in supporting the two most important aspects of our business, our valuable clients and the chauffeurs who serve them every day.

Carey International’s new headquarters features 50,000 square feet of modern workspace to accommodate approximately 300 employees, five multi-purpose conference spaces, three productivity lounges, a 150-person capacity dining room and a fitness center.  The property has also been outfitted with the latest in cutting-edge communication and energy infrastructure to serve Carey International’s significant technology systems.

“The new facility offers more physical space as we continue to grow, as well as a custom-designed  environment to accommodate our current technology development initiatives”, remarked Sally Snead, Chief Operating Officer of Carey International, Inc.

Carey International plans to start welcoming employees to the new facility by the end of the third quarter of 2016 and be fully relocated by the end of the year.
